c4d reflectance vs Octane Falloff
Hallo Gemeinde,
ich versuch verzweifelt ein Verständnis für Octanes Falloff Shader zu bekommen.
Wie rechnet man die verschiedenen c4d Fresnel IORs in Octane Falloff werte um?
Oder habe ich einfach nicht genug Grundlagenwissen und mach was ganz falsch?
Als Referenz hab ich die Silverwing_Octane_Materials in diesem Fall Aluminium genommen und mit einem Standart c4d Material im Reflectance Fresnel (Aluminium) verglichen.
Wie macht Ihr das?
Auf der Otoy Page ist der Shader noch zum teil aus Version 2 oder so beschrieben und das auch nur sehr spärlich.

Wenn ich aber keinen richtigen IOR Fresnel einstellen kann dann ist doch alles nur so halb "physically correct" denn...

Octane hat keinen complex fresnel sondern nur fresnel für dielektrische materialien.
D.h du kannst dich, ohne das du das mit komplexeren, umgerechneten gradmaps machst (was durchaus klappt, gab da afaik auch mal ein script für, bin mir da aber nicht mehr so sicher), nur grob an das "reale" ding annäheren. Das setup dafür sieht so aus das du den diffuse (wie immer) auf 100% schwarz stellst, den fresnel auf 1 (100% reflective bei jedem winkel) und dann eine grad node mit einem falloff kombinierst.
Du überschreibst damit quasi das octane fresnel (was für holz, plastik, etc. ist) und baust dir dein eigenes.
Ich hab mal schnell zusammengeklickt wie ich das immer mache.
Die float node im gradient ist auf 1 (weiß), weil bei maximaler reflectivness bei 90° alle kurven zusammenlaufen und weiß ergeben.
C4D kann das ohne diesen ganzen heckmeck weil C4D neuerdings complex fresnel unterstüzt....also fresnel von typischweise leitenden materialien, vorwiegend metallen.
