Ich denke eher das es BMW garnicht darum geht zu verhindern das die Modelle nachgebaut und verkauft werden. Die müssennur aktiv sowas verhindern weil sonst ihr Anspruch in kommenden Klagen verfällt. Das habe ich schon in vielen anderen Fällen gehört. Ob es stimmt weiß ich leider nicht. Bin leider kein Anwalt :-/

As i understand it the US law on intelectual property states that if you don’t defend you patent with all the legal means available you lose it. If BMW has a litigation over design patent infringement with someone else that might do real damage to the brand, like one of the many EV companies recently launched, that company might cite the inaction of BMW towards Turbosquid to prove that the patent is not defended and win.

Das ist schade; klingt aber plausibel.
Ergo ist Handlungsbedarf angezeigt.
