The Physical Sky is the limit
The sky is a very complex natural phenomena and enlightens us with its beautiful colors. The richness of color distributions has stunned all of us at least once. A sky can give the perfect realistic touch to a scenery, especially in outdoor renderings like landscape views.
Therefore DPIT Nature Spirit V4 introduces a physical sky shader that accurately catches the color variations of a real sky.
DPITSky is physical-based and calculations are done in radiances, only the final output color is transformed into RGB color space via tonemapping. Used for GI renderings this will enhance all your outdoor renderings.
You think there is more to a good landscape rendering than the sky or its illumination?
Yep, the right atmosphere!
Painters use it for ages to simulate depth in their landscape paintings, the aerial perspective!
This is the blueish effect that appears on far away objects. They loose contrast and from a certain distance no details are visible anymore.
That´s due to the aerial perspective effect. It´s a complex physical effect of light scattering in the atmosphere before it reaches our eyes.
And as it´s an almost even more important feature for landscape rendering than the sky, DPIT Nature Spirit V4 will also include a physical-based volumetric atmosphere shader that simulates the aerial perspective.
